Certified Peer Support delivered by people who know the road — because they've walked it. Serving Allegheny County through lived experience, not just clinical credentials.
I overcame the obstacle, and I can walk with you through your journey to help you overcome as well. Empathy isn't a technique — it's the whole point.
Resource Advocacy Network LLC operates Redefine Support as an OMHSAS-licensed Certified Peer Support program serving Allegheny County. Our Certified Peer Specialists (CPSs) provide mobile, community-based support grounded in lived experience — meeting people where they are, literally and figuratively.
We are a Forensic Certified Peer Recovery Services provider — serving individuals whose mental health and recovery intersects with the criminal justice system — and the only Pennsylvania organization offering Administrative Management Services to Behavioral Health Professionals with Lived Experience (BHPL).

One-on-one support from a Certified Peer Specialist who has personal lived experience with mental health, recovery, or criminal justice involvement. Goal-setting, WRAP planning, advocacy, resource linkage, and crisis support — all built on genuine human connection.
Pennsylvania's only supportive service designed specifically for Behavioral Health Workers with Lived Experience (BHWL) who hold commercial insurance and are excluded from HealthChoices-funded services. Trauma-informed, culturally responsive case coordination.
Services grounded in the Substance Affected Individual (SAI) framework — recognizing that affectedness is not limited to ingestion, but includes the psychological and behavioral impact of substance-driven environments. A more complete model of healing.
The Substance Affected Individual (SAI) framework challenges the conventional narrative that addiction begins with the first use. In reality, the psychological and behavioral impact begins much earlier — with exposure, environment, and proximity.
SAI recognizes that both the person who ingests a substance and the person who distributes it within a substance-driven environment may share similar cravings, triggers, and behavioral patterns. The distinction is not clinical — it's cultural. And it demands a therapeutic response, not a punitive one.
Current systems treat substance involvement punitively rather than therapeutically, leaving many affected individuals without access to recovery services.
Redefine Support serves individuals where conventional frameworks exclude them — meeting every expression of affectedness with lived-experience support.
"Whether someone ingests or sells a substance for an intended outcome, both are affected. Both experience cravings, triggers, and behavioral patterns rooted in exposure. The distinction between 'user' and 'dealer' is not clinical — it's cultural."
"SAI recognizes that affectedness is not limited to ingestion. It's about the psychological, emotional, and behavioral impact of substance-driven environments. That's why SAI must replace SUD — not just as a term, but as a framework for healing."
Peer support should never feel like navigating a system. Here's exactly what happens from the moment someone reaches out to Redefine Support — no surprises, no bureaucratic walls.
